Welcome to the Yorktown Church of the Nazarene

Our church has a mission based on the Great Commission of Jesus.  We are striving to show Christ's love in all we do, from our relationships, to our actions, to our prayers.  We believe we can do this by staying close to the definitions with our mission's statement for our church family....Living Christ!

Some might think this is such a simple concept but we believe that within its definition belongs the character and life in which we have been called to lead and draws us closer in our walk with God.  Living is a verb  a word of action, which includes an acronym for our life.  Loving, Inviting, Victorious living, Internal transformation, Networking, and accepting Grace. All define movement!

The characteristics we strive for to accomplish this mission are based on five principles: Radical Hospitality, Passionate Worship, Extravagant Generosity, Intentional Faith Development, and Risk Taking Service and Missions. (Robert Schnase: Five Practices of Fruitful Congregations, Abington Press, 2007)

Our church is a growing church, but not as the world defines.  Growth is based on our personal desire to know Christ better and the manner in which the Holy Spirit collectively moves our church family through the development of God's calling upon us.

We are a church that stretches the envelope of each other's minds and thoughts and are willing to do things which have not been tried in a post-modern society to show Christ to all we come in contact with.  We are traditional in doctrine, contemporary in thinking, and emergent in vision.  Our services reflect no one style of worship, our life groups have many topics and intentional goals, and our congregation has a unique personality of individuals with special gifts and talents.... the unison of the love for God is profound in all that is done.

Are you willing to be challenged?..Are you ready to be loved?...Are you ready to be a part of a spiritual journey in faith?...Are you ready to be drawn closer to a God that loves you more than you can imagine?

If thats the case, we invite you to visit us and meet a church family that really wants to share God's love with you.  Let's grow together!!  See you Sunday!
